Easter pincushion

Today the hubby was home sick, but I still managed to get some cleaning done and make an Easter pincushion. It's not really my choice of fabric, but it was a remnant and much cheaper than buying what I actually would have wanted. So I guess you make due with what you have. I think it turned out kind of cute...
Our shopping trip went really well. Tad behaved himself, for the most part anyway. He was pulling things off shelves and trying to pull over displays though. He just gets bored sitting there in the buggy. I don't blame him one bit. Next time I think we'll use the stroller and bring some toys. Anyway, I bought some pretty fabric, to make more pincushions with... YEA! Got some ribbon (it was half off at Hobby Lobby). More polymer clay, all different colors, ...I had so much fun last night playing with it, but got a horrible crick in my neck from bending over the table for so long. It still hurts today! Oh, and I bought some felt to make my cupcake pincushion with.

I'm going to make strap covers out of the cute little frog felt for Tad's carseat.

Here are the polymer clay pins I've been working on for the past few days... I know they look tacky in the smooshed up brown felt. Bobby says it looks like they're in a cup of doo doo! That's just mean, but I haven't made the cupcake pincushion yet that I plan on putting some of the pins in. I'll get around to it eventually.

This photo is way too overexposed.. The bottom cake is supposed to be a really pretty baby pink, you just can't tell here.

Sock Bunnies

Well, Lexie and I finally got to make our sock bunnies. I found the tutorial here on a Listmaker's Life, she has such cute things...Lexie's bunny is not in the picture because she carried it off to her room and now it is missing. She did hers with a pink bow. Here are the very very ugly baby rattles she and I made today out of water bottles. We put sequins, beads, beans, glitter and rhinestones in them. Glued the lids on REALLY well and glued the bows on. I tried to spruce up the picture by putting some cute little scarfs around them because they are just so darn ugly! Tad loves them though!
Please ignore the messy room and ugly baby gate in the background. I had to put that ugly board there because he was climbing OVER it!
Yes that's food on his face... as usual...
Finally got my craft room straightened up last night around 1:00 am, then did some polymer clay pin heads 'till about 2:00. I still have to paint them though. Lexie and I also made some charms today for her charm bracelet. They turned out really cute. I guess now I need to go catch up on some housework, tomorrow is our shopping day!!! I can't wait to buy some more crafty stuff!

Saturday

Well, today is just not going like I thought it would. Lexie and I were going to make little sock bunnies, but she ditched me to go play with her friends. Bobby is napping, it's 1:30 now and he slept in till 10:00. I'm so bored. It's too wet outside to do anything in the yard. I've been trying to spruce up my blog site, but I'm just not happy with it and my hair looks like crap. Yucky yucky day. I thought about making another pin cushion, but I am just not happy with my material selection. I guess I'll clean up my craft room. It's soooo messy!
See... It's terrible! It will take me forever to get all this organized. What's so bad is about 2 weeks ago it was clean and looked so pretty. Oh well... guess that's what I'll do today unless I get distracted by some polymer clay or beads or something....

Pincushions and Pins

Here is my newest tiny pincushion. I should have put something beside it just to show how small it really is.
And here is just a very small portion of the pins Mom and I have spent the last few days making. Aren't they cute!!! The rest of them are at her house... I'll get the pictures up just as soon as I get them safely back home...

So, our shopping trip went ok, I guess. Tad was somewhat fussy, especially in the car. He screamed solid the whole way to Hobby Lobby. Once we got there he got better, he was just so tired though, bless his heart. By the time we got to Michaels he was asleep and I had to hold him the whole time we were in the store. He slept the entire time and never even knew he was in a store. Sweet little baby, he's such a trooper... going shopping with Mom and Grandmama and being so good. He woke up right in time to eat some french fries from Wendy's. He was very happy about that! But needless to say, Michaels was a bust... he is SO heavy so I didn't really get to look around and they had a great clearance sale on ribbon!I really hated that, but we are going to go back Monday, maybe it will still be there and hopefully he will be well rested this time! Awww, sweet baby...

Pincushions

Here are the pincushions and decorative straight pins I made Friday night and Saturday. I love the little blue velvet one. I think it's my favorite. It looks better in person than in the picture. And even though I made it a little crooked, well... I say it just gives it more character. I used a silver necklace to go around it. Sewed it on with invisible thread ( I love that stuff!) and put a cute little bead on the top that came from some old jewelry. The starfish used to be an earring and the shells came from a necklace that I took apart. I had a lot of fun making these.

Oh and by the way, Eddie is wiggly. The darn slipcover won't stay closed so I'm thinking maybe velcro? Mom and I are going to Hobby Lobby today. I've been so excited all weekend and you know sure enough, you get excited about something like that and want everything to smoothly and what do you know... the baby was up all night, I don't know if he really got much sleep at all and he only had a 15 minute nap yesterday because we were at Trade Days. You'd think he would have slept really good last night... but no... so I'm so scared he's gonna be cranky on our shopping trip. We went to Wal-Mart yesterday and I got a new hot glue gun... I was so excited. It's not pink... I wanted a pink one... but I know it will be much better than the one I have now that just oozes glue out constantly. I can't wait to use it!!! I got some felt too, not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I've been saying for a while now, "I really need some felt" so yeah, I have felt now! I'm thinking I might make some flowers with it to put on the top of my pincushions. Anyway, I've got to go wake up Lexie and get her ready for school. Tad's sleeping now, so maybe our Hobby Lobby trip will not be as bad as I think it will... we'll see.....

Feather fiasco

Ok.....so, it didn't fit. I had to make a new dog bed. I had an old feather bed that I was going to throw away. A king size one, so it's really big. Well, Mom advised me to sew it up really good before I cut it. Did I listen? No. In my defense, I did try but it was going to take forever. So, I got the brilliant idea to sew it on my sewing machine. Way to big!!! I broke my freakin needle. So yeah, I cut it, without sewing it up first. FEATHERS EVERYWHERE!!! Yeah I know, what did I expect... Luckily the hubby's not home so he didn't see the feather fiasco. He would have made fun of me, which wouldn't have matters any better. Ok, so anyway, I cut it and replaced the needle on the machine. Not a heavy duty needle I think it's for real thin material because it is really tiny and it took me forever to thread... sewed it up and put it in the slipcover I made for the other bed. It works. Still haven't come up with a way to close it up so I just left the open side up against the wall and hopefully Eddie won't be too wiggly... yeah right...Here are some pincushions I made and the cute little decorative pins Mom and I made yesterday. I also covered Eddie's leash to match the dog bed, It looks way better in the picture! I did a horrible job and will have to get him a new leash. Hey, I tried though...

Doggie bed slipcover

So today I decided to make a slipcover for Eddie's (our dog) bed. We'll see how it goes. I of course never measure anything I try to make, I just kind of eyeball it, which usually ends up in disaster. Like when I tried to sew a cushion for Tad's highchair and it ended up 3 times to small than what I had intended. Maybe this will fit. I'm almost finished with it. I just have to figure out a way to close it up on the end. I thought about buttons but I don't really know how to sew button holes. Guess I should do some research before I try to give it a go on my own... that also usually ends up in disaster.
