Weekend meltdown

Our computer got all messed up this weekend... totally, horribly and completely messed up. Yes, I pretty much had a total meltdown. It first started out where we couldn't use our phone... we have a Magic Jack, and then it started not letting me online. I was totally freaking out! Bobby worked on it for two days straight, and it just kept getting worse. It is now at the point where we might have to completely crash it and I am probably going to lose all of my pictures. I can't even burn them to cd now because it's not even recognizing that we have any disk drives on there! I have now learned my lesson to always back up my pictures as soon as I put them on the computer! All , of the pictures I've taken this past year, Tad's first birthday, all of the ones I've been working on for my Etsy shop, hundreds of pictures... good pictures too, some of my favorite baby pictures.... yeah, I've been crying about it for days. He's still working on it so that I won't lose them, but now the computer won't even stay on. We went and bought a laptop Sunday, so at least I have a computer now, but I wish I could save those pictures. It's pretty neat having a computer I can take around the house with me... I'm actually sitting in the kitchen right now! How cool is that! I love it... I've always wanted a lap top. Anyway, i'll let you know if the pictures get saved or not... keep your fingers crossed for me.

Hey Courtney. Sorry to hear about your computer. I just went through that with my laptop (well last year). I had malware on it and it wrecked it pretty bad. I kept working on it and finally got enough of the malware off that it started working again. Do you think it's a virus or malware(spyware)? Sounds like the same thing I had or at least some of it. Mine didn't recognize the cd burner... and wouldn't stay on. I downloaded a program called Counter Spy and it helped a lot.

Goodluck. I hope you can get it running at least long enough to get your photos off but maybe you can save the whole computer. I hope so.

thanks Cindy... I'll tell Bobby what happened to your computer. He knows more about whats going on with it than I do. I know I got a bunch of viruses a few weeks ago by visiting someone's blog... maybe that's what caused it.

I didn't know you could get virus's from a blog!! OMG - that could be a problem for me...lol! Courtney I would DIE if I lost my pictures!! I'm in major sympathy pain for you!! My husbands in IT and he makes me run MalwareBytes every so often. You can Download it free. Now that you have a new laptop maybe you could save the program to a thumb drive and run it on your old computer. Good luck! I keep an external hard drive with all my pics on it just in case something like this were to happen and I burn a DVD every six months or so as a backup. External hard drives are really cheap now, that might be something to think about just in case something were to happen to the new computer. Oh by the way, I have been meaning to comment on so many of your posts here lately but I just haven't had time. I truely think we are kindred spirits. We react the same way to so many things. Just be prepared to get a bunch from me in your inbox....lol! Have a great day!
